Baby girl for Carla Bruni and Sarkozy

French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni have welcomed a baby girl into their family.

It is reported that Ms Bruni gave birth shortly after after 8pm.

The baby girl is the first baby to be born to a serving French President.

Mr Sarkozy is to travel back from Frankfurt following a Eurozone meeting this evening.
