Adele to represent UK and Ireland at EMAs
Adele has been crowned as the Best UK & Ireland act at the 2011 MTV European Music Awards (EMAs).
The 'Someone Like You' hitmaker beat off competition from the likes of Coldplay, Jessie J and Kasabian to the prize, which has given her the chance to represent the continent in the 2011 MTV EMA Worldwide Act category at the ceremony in Belfast on November 6.
Adele is up against other European winners – such as Swedish House Mafia – for the opportunity to win the main accolade, but she face nominees from North America, Asia Pacific, Latin America and Africa/India/Middle East.
The artist representing Europe in the category will be announced on Monday, and the winner of the 2011 MTV EMA Worldwide Act is set to be named at the MTV EMAs ceremony on November 6 – which is hosted by Selena Gomez – where the successful act will be presented with the award.
Lady Gaga – who leads this year's nominations with six nods - and Bruno Mars are among the musicians set to perform at the event in Belfast, while stars from reality TV show 'Jersey Shore', Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi and Jenni 'Jwoww' Farley, will present trophies.
