'The Guard' to open LA festival

John Michael McDonagh's comedy-thriller 'The Guard' is set to open the Los Angeles Irish Film Festival tomorrow night.

The festival will screen a host of Irish films and will this year honour the renowned Irish actress Fionnula Flanagan.

The event, now in its fourth year, is about celebrating the Irish passion for storytelling.

It runs from September 29 to October 2.
