Li-Lo: I don't want to be a 'celebrity'
Lindsay Lohan wants to be remembered for her talent, not her problems.
The troubled actress â who has had several stints in rehab and a string of legal problems, most recently serving 35 days house arrest after breaching probation by stealing a necklace â insists she doesnât want to be a âcelebrityâ and believes people no longer view her as a âreal personâ.
Comparing herself to late screen icon Marilyn Monroe, she said: âPeople in their mind have created who I am and act as if there is no real person inside of me. Just like Marilyn.
âMarilyn never wanted to be just a celebrity. Neither do I.
âI had always thought that movie stars were in films that would last forever in your mind. But now the films donât. I donât want to be remembered as someone who just wanted to be photographed, who goes out at night, and gets in trouble.
âHeath Ledger once said to me, 'Itâs built you up to knock you downâ and thatâs all it is. âMarilyn said she had no foundation. But she said she was really working on it. Iâve been trying to do the same thing. I believe in myself and Iâm a good actress.â
Lindsay, 25, says she has always identified with Marilyn â who died in 1962 at the age of 36 â and says the blonde beauty inspired her to always want to appear strong and in control.
In a foreword for Susan Bernardâs new book âMarilyn: Intimate Exposuresâ she wrote: âMarilyn was the beautiful bad girl in that tight, rose dress. The character she played was strong and taking control, which I unconsciously knew at that young age [12] was a necessary quality for a woman.â
Lindsay writes. âI can understand the photographer [Bruno] Bernard of Hollywoodâs statement, 'It took a superhuman effort to be Marilyn.â I identify."
