Brian Dowling's mum is confused about his involvement with 'Celebrity Big Brother'.
The Irish TV host - who is fronting the fly-on-the-wall series when it re-launches on Channel 5 tonight – explained after having won 'Big Brother' in 2001 and being crowned champion of 'Ultimate Big Brother' last year, his mother thinks he is going to live in the infamous house once again.
He said: "My mum just got Channel 5 installed in Ireland just to watch me, but she doesn’t understand how it works.
"Because I did ‘Ultimate’ she thinks I’m going back to live in the house again. She only thinks I’m famous if I’m on telly in Ireland. I’m like: ‘Mum, I’m not living in there anymore – I’ve done that twice. I’m the presenter now’."
After taking over from Davina McCall – who presented 'Big Brother' for 10 years on Channel 4 – Dowling thinks his involvement will help to "freshen" up the show's format.
He explained: "I bring to the table the fact that I’ve been in the house, I know how it works. I’m a fresh start, it’s nice to be able to bring about some changes they couldn’t have done before because of Davina."
