Jamie Lomas has quit 'Hollyoaks'.
The 31-year-old actor - who quit his role as Warren Fox in 2009 before returning just over a year later - is on the lookout for a role that is radically different to the villainous club boss he has played since 2006.
He said: "Last time I left, the recession hit and there wasn't much being made. It's starting to pick up and I wanted to give it another crack of the whip.
"I want something completely different to Warren to show people I'm versatile."
However, Jamie is hopeful that if things don't work out, he will be able to return to the Channel 4 soap.
Asked if he thinks show bosses will write him out without killing off his character, he told new! magazine: "I would like to think they would. I'll have to wait and see."
While Jamie - who has four-month-old daughter Polly with fiancee Kym Marsh and five-year-old son Billy from a previous relationship - quit the show originally to find work in America, he has ruled out moving Stateside permanently.
He said: "I've got my kids here. Moving out there permanently is out of the question.
"Yeah, I'd love to go out and do a pilot season because it's always been a dream of mine. Kym has been nothing but 100% behind me. That's the way a partnership is. In terms of people saying she's going to lose me to Hollywood, that's nonsense. We've just bought a house, we've got a baby."
