'Deathly Hallows: Part 2' the third highest-grossing film ever

'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2' has become the highest-grossing movie of 2011.

The film – which is the eighth final instalment of the movie franchise about the boy wizard – has earned $801.5m internationally since it was released last month.

It is now the third highest-grossing movie off all time, behind 'Avatar' and 'Titanic'.

Dan Fellman - president of domestic distribution for Warner Bros., who produced the movie – said: “This is another incredible milestone for the last chapter of this historic film series, and for the 'Harry Potter' franchise as a whole. In a crowded and very competitive summer, it is a tribute to both the film and the people behind it that moviegoers are still turning out to enjoy it — whether for the first time or for a repeat viewing.”

Warner Bros. have been thrilled with how all the 'Harry Potter' movies – which stars Daniel Radcliffe as the boy wizard and Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as his magic friends - have performed at the box office and recently gave J.K. Rowling a 40-diamond bracelet as a thank you present.

The movie studio is so grateful the author allowed them to turn her book series into a film franchise they wanted to show their appreciation so splashed out millions of dollars on the stunning piece of white gold jewellery.
