Moss ties knot with rocker Hince
Supermodel Kate Moss married rockstar Jamie Hince today in a star-studded ceremony in a rural Cotswolds village.
The couple took over the community of Southrop for the day, with roads closed, a large police presence and security guards employed to control the media desperate to catch a glimpse of the bride.
She was nearly upstaged by Naomi Campbell before the wedding at St Peter’s Church however – as the fellow model arrived just after the bride and had to rush to overtake her.
Moss wore an elegant sleeveless ivory dress with gold detailing and a long veil accesorised with a floral headband, while Hince, of rock band The Kills, wore a pale grey suit.
The couple were greeted by cheers from residents as they left the tiny church after the 45-minute ceremony, having spent time being photographed by Mario Testino, reportedly as part of a deal with US Vogue.
Outside the church, they posed for pictures for the waiting media alongside their bridesmaids, including Moss’s daughter Lila, who were dressed in ivory.
They wore broad smiles, with Moss laughing as her new husband made a “rock” sign with his hand.
The couple shared a long kiss, which drew applause from the crowds, before getting into Moss’s Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow to be driven back to her home in nearby Little Faringdon. The newlyweds waved as the car left, the Rolling Stones playing on its stereo.
Moss is said to be throwing a three-day festival-themed party to celebrate her wedding, with marquees and a tall perimeter fence erected at the back of her sprawling property.
Guests at the wedding included actors Sadie Frost and Jude Law, whose children are thought to have been in the wedding party, Topshop boss Philip Green, Moss’s former partner Jefferson Hack – the father of her daughter – and Mick Jones from punk band The Clash, who is believed to be performing at the reception.
Testino said the wedding had been “amazing” as he left in a car.
Some residents had seemed disgruntled by the tight security Moss had put in place, but a large group of them waited for more than an hour to catch a glimpse of the couple as they left the church.
They had 15 bridesmaids – one of whom stuck her tongue out as she was photographed.
Describing how Campbell had rushed into the church before the ceremony, a resident, identified only as Anna, said: “Naomi Campbell was wearing a canary yellow, tight-fitting number. She looked great.
“But she actually arrived after the bride. She had to run in after her, and just managed to get into the church before her. She just scraped it.”
