Pregnancy joy for Lily

Pop star Lily Allen is pregnant, it was revealed on her wedding day.

The 'Smile' singer married Sam Cooper in an intimate country wedding yesterday, joined by fewer than 100 close family members and friends.

News of her pregnancy comes after she lost her second baby last November, when six months pregnant.

A visible bump seen under the singer’s empire-line dress – and her glowing appearance – led onlookers to speculate that the 26-year-old may be expecting a baby.

The news was later confirmed by her wedding dress designer, Delphine Manivet, following online reports that Allen’s new husband had broken the news to guests at the wedding breakfast.

Mme Manivet, who is based in Paris, said: “It’s beautiful that she is pregnant, and I am very happy for her. She is very happy about that – it is something wonderful.”

Speaking of the vintage-inspired dress, which consisted of an underdress covered by a second, lace dress, she added: “You can see of course the little stomach – it looked very cute with the dress.

“For me, and for her too, when you’re pregnant you want to show that, but also be respectful, so the dress was perfect for her for that moment.”

Allen looked radiant as she was escorted into St James the Great Church in Cranham, near Stroud in Gloucestershire, for the traditional wedding service.

The singer, who carried a bouquet of cream roses with peach and baby blue blossoms, smiled at well-wishers who had gathered outside the church to catch a glimpse of her before the ceremony.

She opted for a 1920s full-length veil with floral embellishments and the unique double-layered dress, which Mme Manivet said was inspired by the 1970s and 1990s.

T4 presenter Miquita Oliver, a childhood friend of the star, was one of the bridesmaids. Allen’s younger bridesmaids wore white dresses, while the older ones were in peach.

Guests at the wedding included comedians Harry Enfield and Angus Deayton.

There were fears earlier this week that the singer’s big day could be ruined by the weather but when the big moment came, the sun shone brightly.

There was a tight security presence as a large number of photographers captured arrivals at the wedding. The couple paid for extra policing and two roads, five footpaths and three bridleways were closed.

After the service, it is understood that the newlyweds, who have been together since 2009, threw a reception for guests in the garden of Allen’s nearby country home.

Allen runs vintage boutique Lucy In Disguise with sister Sarah Owen.
