Burke backs Cole to bounce back

'X Factor' winner Alexandra Burke has spoken of her support for Cheryl Cole after she was dropped from the US version of the show.

Speaking ahead of her performance at the Isle of Wight Festival 2011, 22-year-old Burke said that although she backed Cole to be a judge on the show, she felt Nicole Scherzinger was also suited to the role.

When asked on Absolute Radio, which is broadcasting from the festival, whether Scherzinger would do a good job, she replied: “I think they both would have if I’m honest. I remember when the rumours were going around, who was a judge, who wasn’t a judge, and I always said Nicole and Cheryl would make great judges.”

She added that she believed Cole would land on her feet.

“She’s a fighter, I’m sure she’s going to pick herself back up.”

Burke also believed that American 'X Factor' would be a success.

“It’s much different to 'American Idol' with how 'X Factor' do their things and stuff, each mentor has a category, it’s very different, so that’s why I think it would work.”

Burke also said that she would love to cover 'Sex on Fire' by last night’s festival headliners, Kings of Leon.

“I would try my very best to, it wouldn’t be as amazing as them but I’d try my best. I’d put my little Alex stamp on it.”
