Cash crisis comedy goes in for Black
'School Of Rock' star Jack Black has teamed up with British director Michael Winterbottom for a new comedy about one man’s financial crisis.
The film, with a working title of 'Bailout', is based on Jess Walter’s novel 'The Financial Lives Of The Poets'.
Black, in Cannes to promote 'Kung Fu Panda 2', plays the unemployed and deep-in-debt lead character.
His only chance of redemption comes when a late-night visit to a supermarket sees him offered a bizarre business opportunity.
Winterbottom said: “Jess Walter is an extremely talented writer. Bailout is a very funny account of one man caught up in his own financial crisis – a rare feat of being funny and true at the same time.”
Filming is set to start in August.
