16 Irish films on show in Cannes

Sixteen Irish films will show at the Cannes Film Festival this week, which gets underway today.

Oscar winner Sean Penn stars in 'This Must Be The Place', which gets its worldwide premiere at the event.

The film was shot in Dublin and the US and is a contender for the prestigious Palme d'Or prize.

Other Irish features will include director Rebecca Daly's 'The Other Side Of Sleep' and Ian Palmer's bare-knuckle boxing documentary 'Knuckle'.

The French film festival runs until May 22.
