Adele debuts on rich list

Chart-topping star Adele’s huge success has propelled her into a new top 10 - of the richest young music stars.

The 'Someone Like You' singer is the highest new entry in a new list of the richest British and Irish music stars under the age of 30.

Authors of the report, which is part of the Sunday Times Rich List to be published this weekend, estimate she is worth £6m (€6.67m).

The astonishing leap in fortunes comes just three months after her performance at the Brit Awards in February, which gave her a new flush of fame. Days later she stormed to number one in the album chart and has now spent 13 weeks at the top with her second album, '21'.

Her debut release '19' is currently at number two.

Singer Katherine Jenkins is the wealthiest star in the young music millionaire list, ousting last year’s number one Charlotte Church.

Jenkins is said to be worth £13m (€14.46m), up £2m (€2.22m) on the previous year, while Church is now reckoned to be valued at £8m (€8.9m), slipping to joint sixth place with Craig David.

Among the runner-ups in the list is Cheryl Cole, whose fortune is believed to have grown by £2m (€2.22m) in the past year.

She shares second spot with both Leona Lewis and Katie Melua.
