'Little White Lies' long but worth watching

Director: Guillaume Canet

Cast: Francois Cluzet, Valerie Bonneton, Jean Dujardin, Benoit Maginel, Marion Cotillard, Gilles Lellouche

Introspection laced with charm, wit, observation and emotion … hey, it’s a French film!

Each year to launch their summer vacation, Max (Cluzet) and Vero (Bonneton) bring a group of long-time friends to their seaside hideaway.

Only this summer one of them, Ludo (Dujardin) is involved in a road accident and the disruption reveals all manner of secrets and insecurities amongst the friends.

There is a lot going on – which is probably why the film is over-long and badly in need of trimming – and the opening section offers more than the weepy climax, but it’s still a film well worth catching.

Star Rating: 3/5
