Bromfield reveals Winehouse advice helps her writing
Amy Winehouse taught Dionne Bromfield how to write songs from her diary.
âYeah Rightâ hitmaker Dionne didnât initially understand why her godmother â famous for her confessional, personal lyrics â told her to keep notes on what she did week to week, but when it all made sense when it came to recording her second album.
She told BANG Showbiz: âI kind of have a diary. My godmother Amy told me, âAlways keep a diary of everything you doâ and I was thinking, âhow can you make a song out of stuff youâve written in your diary?â
âBut then it all just clicked in my head, and once youâre in the zone, itâs kind of just there, it was amazing.â
Dionne, 15, added she and Amy worked together a great deal in the studio making âGood for the Soulâ, with her helping to âtweakâ certain arrangements until they were just right.
She added: âShe was always in the studio always helping, if something didnât sound right, in one of the verses or whatever, sheâd just tweak it here and there.
âSome of the songs she had a little bit of input into writing the songs, and singing wise â well, youâll just have to wait and see.â
âGood for the Soulâ is released in June.
