'The Roommate' dismal and derivative

You really would be better off renting the classic 'Single White Female' and staying at home since this absolutely awful version of the obsessive room-mate is a waste of time and money.

It’s directed with no feel for the growing menace and peopled by cardboard characters spouting gibberish.

Kelly plays Sara, fetching up at Uni in Los Angeles from the sticks and sharing a room with rich girl Rebecca (Meester) whose growing obsession puts her life in danger.

The thing is, we can see what’s happening but Sara comes across as such a dim dork that she can’t … also she’s more interested in the Uni hulk, as wooden a character as you’ll find outside your nearest forest. Indeed, so uninteresting are the supporting characters that you won’t wish to be reminded who plays them.

And what on Earth is Zane doing in such a dismal film, other than picking up a cheque towards the grocery bill?
