No plot to speak of in 'Sucker Punch'

Once upon a time we got films based on video games, but here director Snyder goes one better – or worse – in bringing us a video game, forget the film, forget a plot we can get involved in, forget characters we care about … hey, it’s a video game.

For what it’s worth – not a great deal – the CGI F/X is as stunning as we would expect it to be and, it being just a video game, there is plenty of violent and mindless action with plenty of weird creatures: Chicago-era gangsters, zombie Nazis, dragons, Samurai, a runaway train and a collection, for the lads, of sexy, skimpy-costumed girls.

Pretending there actually is a storyline – place a X where you think it might be – we have Browning as Baby Doll, sent by her cruel, murdering step-father to an institution for a lobotomy.

She escapes into a fantasy world as a means of escape and must battle the various gangsters, Nazis, dragons, Samurai and trains … and none of it makes sense or is worth getting excited about.
