McDonald takes Witherspoon role in Pixar movie

Kelly McDonald has taken over from Reese Witherspoon in the lead role of Pixar’s forthcoming animation 'Brave'.

The 'Boardwalk Empire' actress is to voice Scottish princess Merida in the fairytale, which also features Emma Thompson and Billy Connolly as her on-screen parents King Fergus and Queen Elinor.

“Brave is an epic adventure chock-full of action, humour and heart,” said director Mark Andrews.

“There’s no more perfect setting for this powerful tale than the dark and rugged Scottish Highlands.”
