Comic James Corden and fiancee Julia Carey have named their son Max.

The boy, who was born on Tuesday in London, is the couple’s first child.

Corden’s spokeswoman confirmed the name and said the couple were “both over the moon”.

They revealed they were engaged in December after announcing the pregnancy in September.

Corden appeared in teen soap Hollyoaks but got his big TV break in 2000 when he landed a regular role in the ITV1 series Fat Friends, where he met Gavin And Stacey co-star Ruth Jones.

The actor, who played Smithy in the series, and Carey, a former TV producer who is now a charity worker, were introduced by his former flatmate, actor Dominic Cooper.
