Director: P.J. Dillon

Cast: Amy Huberman, Allen Leech

Cert: 15

A superior Irish thriller offering an outstanding, carry-the-film performance from Huberman that draws you in and never slackens its grasp in the sort of film Hollywood would be happy to make and the sort of tough, slow-burner the French usually do so well.

Huberman plays Karen, a former addict who on the face of it appears to have turned her life around with a home in the suburbs, a husband and a little girl,

But Karen has a past, albeit one she thought she had left far behind. Until, from that past, comes the menacing Karl (Leech) seeking pay-back for a crime Karen had been involved with.

It is a dangerous situation she must face in order to safeguard her new life and family.

And Huberman, for all that sometimes a wavering script lets her down, is magnificent with a performance that should shoot her into the firmament of leading ladies. It’s as simple as that.
