Arcade Fire confirmed for Electric Picnic
Canadian icons Arcade Fire are to make a triumphant return to Electric Picnic this summer after their seminal 2005 performance at the festival, it was confirmed today.
The Chemical Brothers, Interpol, PJ Harvey and Pulp are some of the biggest names also confirmed for the three-day music and arts festival in Stradbally, Co Laois.
Much of the line-up had been leaked on social networking sites this morning, and was confirmed this afternoon, along with the new names of Sinead O’Connor, Gavin Friday, Death In Vegas, Toots and the Maytals, Killing Joke, Micah P Hinson, Cast Of Cheers, British India and Potbelleez.
Jimmy Cliff, DJ Shadow, White Lies, OMD, Midlake, The Charlatans, Big Audio Dynamite, The Go! Team, Boys Noize, Paul Kalkbrenner, Mogwai, Adam Beyer, Flying Lotus, Lykke Li, Twin Shadow, Willy Mason, Trentmoller, Ivan St. John, Dave Clarke, Caitlin Rose, The Danger Is, The Walkmen, O Emperor, Health, Sharon Shannon & Her Big Band, Adebisi Shank, Mundy, R.S.A.G and Codes are also confirmed to play.
Old favourites Body & Soul, Mindfield, Leviathan, The Global Green, Arcadia, The Comedy Tent, Trenchtown, Fosset’s Circus, the Salty Dog Saloon, the Farmer’s Market and Soul Kids are also confirmed for a return to the boutique festival.
The festival is set to release Sunday tickets for the first time, at a cost of €99.50, which excludes camping. Weekend tickets are available from Ticketmaster outlets tomorrow for €240 and €60 extra for campervan access. Tickets are available today at early bird prices.
