UK Festival announces Morrissey as headline

Morrissey has been announced as headliner of this year's Hop Farm Festival in the UK.

The 'Every Day Is Like Sunday' singer will headline the Saturday night of the British festival, held on July 1 and 2, alongside 'Hotel California' rockers Eagles, who headline the Friday night.

Also joining the bill for the event are US heavyweights including legendary Velvet Underground singer Lou Reed, Iggy and The Stooges and Patti Smith.

Festival boss Vince Power said: "I'm very pleased to announce that Morrissey will be headlining the Saturday of this year's festival.

"We have so many great bands on the bill so far with many more to follow, the line up and the show this year is going to be fantastic."

Hop Farm Festival has previously announced acts including Bryan Ferry, Brandon Flowers, 10cc and The Human League will be on this year's bill.

The independent festival has four music stages and tickets for the event, held in Paddock Wood, Kent, are on sale now.
