'No Strings Attached' a better than average rom-com

There’s nothing much to this passable rom-com other than strong performances aided by terrific chemistry from Kutcher and Portman since it falls into that limbo of Hollywood’s take on romance that comes across as bland and rather lifeless.

The plot – slightly confused by several unnecessary sub-plots – sees eye-catching couple Emma (Portman) and Adam (Kutcher) in lust until the opportunity for something more arises.

Emma doesn’t require anything more than a regular hot session with Adam and no expectations of commitment – leave all else at the bedroom door – but he begins to want love and something that might last.

It’s a one-plot film that requires no troubling of the grey cells: nice but soon forgotten.
