Designer Galliano held after restaurant row
Dior designer John Galliano has been briefly detained after an incident in a Paris restaurant, officials say.
A couple in the restaurant accused Galliano of making anti-Semitic insults, said a Paris prosecutor’s office official.
A police official said Galliano and the couple slapped each other.
The flamboyant British designer was questioned and released after the incident on Thursday night.
Both officials spoke on condition they not be named because the investigation is continuing.
They said Galliano’s blood alcohol levels were high.
The Dior fashion house would not comment.
