Baby son for Rod Stewart
Veteran rocker Rod Stewart has become a father again after his wife, Penny Lancaster, gave birth to a boy.
Aiden, who was born yesterday weighing 7lb 12oz, is Stewartâs eighth child.
A statement released on the coupleâs behalf said they were âproud and thrilledâ.
Aiden is Stewart and Lancasterâs second child. They have another son, Alastair, who is five.
The couple had struggled to conceive naturally and went through several rounds of IVF.
Lancaster, 39, became pregnant on the third cycle.
The statement said: âAfter the long-awaited arrival of their second child, Rod and Penny are proud and thrilled to welcome Alastairâs baby brother, Aiden, into the world.
âMother and baby are healthy and blissfully happy.â
The youngster was born in the UK but representatives for the couple would not give any further details.
Lancaster revealed in a magazine interview last year that she was pregnant and talked about the difficulties they had experienced.
Recalling the moment she found out she was expecting, she told Hello! magazine: âI couldnât believe it. I burst into tears. I called Rod when I was still sobbing.â
Lancaster is the chart starâs third wife and they married in Italy in 2007.
Stewart has children with each of his previous wives, Rachel Hunter and Alana Hamilton, as well as from a relationship with model Kelly Emberg. His first child, Sarah, was given up for adoption when the singer was a teenager.
Lancaster said they had been on an âemotional rollercoasterâ after learning they could not conceive naturally.
