‘Inside Job’ will stir the passions
Director: Charles Ferguson
Cast: Matt Damon
Cert: 12
If your heart is weak and your boiling point strong be warned that Ferguson’s masterful, thoughtful and brilliantly researched look at how we were all driven to the bread line will leave you seething with understandable rage.
The virtual collapse of the world’s finances in 2008 – to the discordant tune of almost $20 trillion – comes under a searing spotlight, narrated by Damon.
And, of course, it’s the usual suspects: the corrupt and the greedy bankers, chancers and conmen who brought us Ponzi schemes, housing and property scams, AIG, failed government.
A parade of journalists, politicians and academics line up to talk us through the disaster while most of those responsible sought the nearest rock to cower under.
Ferguson made the equally damning documentary about the ‘Iraq War: No End in Sight’, a title he could easily merely have recycled.
Watch it and weep … or take to the streets with lighted torches and anger in your soul.
