‘Paul’ better than you might expect

British sci-fi geeks Graeme (Pegg) and Clive (Frost) head Stateside to attend a nerds convention and to take a tour of the famous UFO sites such as Roswell … along the way picking up a little, snappy-tongued alien – Paul – who has escaped from a government establishment and, much like ET, is anxious to find his mother ship and return home.

Of course, the federal agents hot on the trail have other ideas.

We have here, from the ‘Shaun of the Dead’/’Hot Fuzz’ team, a daft but charmingly entertaining bit of fluff that doesn’t require more than your going along with the trio – and several other characters encountered – on the mad road trip.

It’s a much better film than you might expect.
