LCD Soundsystem announce last gig
LCD Soundsystem have announced details of their farewell gig.
The American dance group ā fronted by James Murphy ā say they will play their last ever gig at New York's Madison Square Garden on April 2.
In a statement released on their website, the band said: āWe are retiring from the game. gettinā out. movinā on. but for just one more night, we will be playing with friends and family for nearly 3 hours -playing stuff weāve never played before and going out with a bang. and weād like you to be there."
The āNorth American Scumā producers have also requested fans attend the concert, which they have described as a āfuneralā, dressed in black and white.
They said: "if you would, weād love it if people came in all white. or black. or black and white. and come early, as the festivities will be opened by our favourites, liquid liquid. yes: liquid liquid.
"if itās a funeral, lets have the best funeral ever!!!ā
LCD Soundsystem have been threatening to quit the music business for some time, hinting last year their current album 'This Is Happening' would be their last.
While promoting the record, James said: "It's over. That's one of the primary reasons I'm out of here. It's not necessarily a bad thing for me because I'm 40 years old and I make albums.
"I'm an oldish dude with a much older music sensibility. I was already anachronistic when I was 30, now I'm just laughable."
