Elton John: Downey Jr should play me in film
Elton John would like to see Robert Downey Jr play him in the planned film about his life.
The âRocket Manâ singer has already announced there is a film based on his life planned, and that he is teaming up with British screenwriter Lee Hall on the project, and although it is in its early stages at present, Elton already has one actor in mind to portray him.
Speaking at the London premiere of âGnomeo And Julietâ, Elton, 63, joked: âA biopic of my life? Iâm quite old now so theyâd have to be two or three actors and theyâd have to vary in weight. Robert Downey Jr. could maybe play me at a certain stage.â
The singer has previously worked with Robert when played the lead role in the starâs video for his track âI Want Loveâ in 2001.
Although details of the film are quite scarce, Elton has said it will not be a straight biopic, and would like to give and more take a more âsurrealisticâ version of his life.
He said: "Obviously, it's not going to be your normal, run of the mill film because my life has kind of been crazy. And I think it's important to do a kind of surrealistic take on my life."
Elton John has also said he expects the project to take around two years to complete.
