Ryder not ruling out Mondays reunion

Former Black Grape and Happy Mondays singer Shaun Ryder is currently planning a solo tour, but hasn’t ruled out working with either of his old bands again.

The 48-year-old rocker, who recently came second on British reality TV show ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ told Q magazine "My solo tour is the main focus right now. But I’ll reunite with anybody.”

“Will there be a reunion? I’ve got a lot on my plate at the minute," he added.

"I’ve come out of the jungle and suddenly I’m busier than I’ve ever been. If someone had told me 30 years ago that eating a f***ing tarantula was the key to all my dreams, I would have got on with it then.

The singer added that he doesn’t understand why Factory Records boss Tony Wilson has previously described him as a “great poet” because there is nothing clever about his songwriting.

“Tony was one for great claims and that’s very nice of him, but I dunno. I write short stories and set them to music. I don’t know what I’m on about half the time," he told Q.

“If I am a poet, then my school definitely didn’t spot it. I was in the lowest set for English. Did any teacher encourage me to be good with words? Did they f**k.”
