Jenny Eclair leaves celebrity jungle
Comic Jenny Eclair was the latest celebrity to leave the jungle in ITV1 show I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! tonight, saying she was “relieved and pleased” to be heading home.
As she left the camp, Jenny gushed “Oh thank you, thank you so much”, telling fellow campmates Stacey Solomon and Shaun Ryder she was “so pleased” they had made it to the final.
Eclair, 50, survived 16 days in the jungle, telling hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly: “I stink.”
She added: “I’ve gone feral, I really have.
“I’m hugely relieved, you know I didn’t have another day in me.
“I’m shocked to pieces, I’d have put money on me coming about tenth.”
The TV star joked that she had no time to prepare for the show, being drafted in as a last-minute arrival in the celebrity camp.
“I had no time to go to the gym, as you can tell,” she told Ant and Dec.
Eclair, who came third overall, added her voice to the host of jungle evictees who want former X Factor contestant Stacey Solomon to win the show.
“Aggro and Stacey are fabulous kids,” she said, adding “girls rule” when asked who should win.
She said her time in the jungle had been “extraordinary”.
“It has been mad, dangerous, stupid, filthy, awful – and then, quite good fun.”
Earlier in the show the comic ate crocodile anus and fermented duck egg as part of her final Bush Tucker Trial, saying the egg tasted “eggy and cheesy with a touch of ancient armpit”.
She told Ant and Dec: “Most of what you threw at me was kind of all right.
“There were some tedious times – the weather’s been awful.
“But I’m pleased I’ve done it.”
Eclair, who was awarded the prize for ’Worst Dressed Celebrity’ in a mock ceremony held by the contestants, said the hardest thing about being in the jungle was only having three pairs of pants, one of which was “savaged” during her time there.
She leaves Happy Mondays star Ryder and bookies’ favourite Solomon as the final two in the camp, where they will compete for the jungle crown.
The last episode in this series of I’m A Celebrity will be shown tomorrow at 9.25pm on TV3.
