Kilmer to play lead in Coppola film
Val Kilmer is to play the lead role in Francis Ford Coppola’s ‘Twixt Now and Sunrise’.
The 50-year-old actor – best known for his roles in ‘Top Gun’ and ‘The Doors’ – will play the main character in the movie alongside Elle Fanning and Bruce Dern.
The film is based on a short story written by Coppola, and sees Kilmer take on the role of a writer in the thriller, which has overtones of horror, Deadline.com reports.
Kilmer will next be seen in ‘5 Days of August’ alongside Keira Knightley’s boyfriend Rupert Friend and has a number of projects in the pipeline including ‘Tales of an Ancient Empire’ and ‘Blood Out’ with Vinnie Jones and 50 Cent.
Coppola – who is best known for ‘The Godfather’ movies – recently directed ‘Tetro’ with Vincent Gallo and Alden Ehrenreich, which failed to set the box office alight.
He has also worked as a producer on ‘Marie Antoinette’, directed by his daughter Sofia Coppola.
