Chart beauty Katy Perry will today tame the one-time lothario Russell Brand as they marry in an Indian ceremony.
The couple are expected to take part in a Hindu ceremony, the first stage of days of celebrations with friends who are thought to include Jonathan Ross and David Walliams.
Brand and Perry, who met at the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2009, where Brand was host, have tried to keep their celebration under wraps.
The 35-year-old comedian proposed to Perry in India outside the Taj Mahal while the pair were enjoying a romantic holiday there last December.
They flew in earlier this week with Perry, 25, covering her head and face as she and her fiancé touched down in Mumbai.
The ceremony is said to be taking place at a luxury resort outside the Ranthambore tiger sanctuary, 80 miles from the "pink city" of Jaipur.
One of the tour operators let slip this week that it would be a six-day celebration beginning with a Hindu ceremony.
About 80 guests are expected to be taken on tours of the tiger sanctuary in the days after the wedding.
Private security teams have been stationed at nearby hotels and four photographers yesterday claimed Brand's bodyguards had attacked them in front of the comedian after they followed Brand and his party through Ranthambhore National Park.
Perry has already appealed for privacy on Twitter while the couple take a break from the limelight to get married.
She tweeted on Tuesday evening: "TWIT BREAK: Greatest gift you can give us is respect and love during this private time. No use wasting our time with STOLEN or FALSE info. Thank you for this."
Brand has had a reputation for his string of sexual conquests, with one of his liaisons proving to be his undoing during the Sachsgate scandal which saw him resigning from his Radio 2 show.
During a pre-recorded show he and Ross left a phone message for veteran actor Andrew Sachs in which Ross made crude comments about Brand's relationship with the 'Fawlty Towers' star's granddaughter Georgina Baillie.
He has gone on to establish a successful Hollywood career and became a publishing success with his memoir.
Perry has become a worldwide success since her first hit 'I Kissed A Girl' in 2008.
The National Park which it is thought will provide the backdrop for the wedding is one of northern India's largest sanctuaries.
As well as being home to 27 tigers, it also contains leopards, wild boar, hyenas and sloth bears.
It also includes several lakes and a 10th-century fort. Local police said they had not been informed of the impending nuptials and said there must be no loud noise after 10pm.
