Stone is turning into a promising comedy actress, here even overcoming

the handicap of being a tad too old to be playing a teen college girl, a handicap she tackles with gusto and pulls off.

She plays nerdy Olive who, to boost her largely anonymous existence at college, boasts of a steamy one-night stand which never took place.

She is then branded the college tramp but decides to use her new-found infamy to further her social standing, even sewing a letter onto her sweater - shades of Nathaniel Hawthorne's 'The Scarlet Letter'.

The theme is about unfair gossip and how to take advantage of it. It's a sharp, witty and naughty little film.
