'Takers' offers little new

“We’re takers. That’s what we do … we take!” Nobody in this quite ordinary heist movie gives.

There have been so many such robbery films that it’s probably impossible to do another one with any originality and 'Takers' certainly isn’t original.

It’s your usual one-last-job plot as Walker, Brown, Christiensen, Elba and Ealy set about taking $20m from a bank and hard-bitten cop Dillon sets out to foil them.

There is a basic weakness in that the characters are so poorly drawn and the actors so hampered by a weak script.

For those who like frantic car chases and shootouts there is something to please but otherwise it’s merely a so-so effort.
