Sick Liza cancels concert

Singer Liza Minnelli has cancelled a US concert because of illness.

The mayor of Portland had expected to give the singer a key to the city after her performance at Merrill Auditorium, Maine, but arts organisation Portland Ovations said Minnelli fell ill before her afternoon sound check and could not perform.

The 64-year-old was expected to sing her greatest hits and material from new CD, Confessions, to kick off Portland Ovations’ 80th season. Minnelli’s representative Scott Gorenstein said she was not seriously ill and would be back in action in the next few days.
