Actor Mick Lally dies

Former Glenroe actor Mick Lally has died after a short illness. The 64-year-old father of three passed away peacefully after a short stay in hospital.

Former Glenroe actor Mick Lally has died after a short illness. The 64-year-old father of three passed away peacefully after a short stay in hospital.

A well-known stage actor, Lally was best known for his role as Miley Byrne in Glenroe in the 1980s and 1990s.

Lally, from Tourmakeady in Co Mayo, taught for a short time before becoming a full-time actor.

He was a founder of the Galway theatre company Druid.
