Woody Allen was impressed by the “professional” performance of France’s first lady, Carla Bruni, on the set of his film 'Midnight in Paris', it was reported today.

Allen was quoted in the Italian daily Corriere della Sera today as saying that working with Ms Bruni was smooth and pleasant. The ex-supermodel was on set in July for her appearance in Allen’s romantic comedy, which stars Owen Wilson and Marion Cotillard.

Corriere said Allen made the comments in a phone interview from Paris.

Allen says Ms Bruni plays a guide at the Rodin Museum and that she was so good that he is going to keep all her scenes in, according to the newspaper. He said French President Nicolas Sarkozy came to the set one evening because he was keen to see his wife act.
