John Leslie is in talks to appear on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’.

The former ‘Blue Peter’ host, who has rarely worked on television since he was subject of a series of sexual assault allegations, has seen his current business as a property developer flounder in recent months.

Leslie has always maintained his innocence relating to the allegations, and has never been found guilty of any sex offence.

He has now had a string of meetings with bosses on the jungle-based challenge show in the hope of reviving his career.

A source told the Daily Record newspaper: “John has had several meetings with ITV about taking part and it’s now at an advanced stage.

“He’s hoping it will help get him back into telly. He thinks it would make great viewing.”

A spokesperson for the show refused to confirm if the 45-year-old Scottish star would be part of the next line-up, saying only that no details of contestants would be released “until transmission”.

It was recently claimed that Jedward – ‘X Factor’ finalists John and Edward Grimes – are also set to appear on the show.

A source said: "Everyone is confident Jedward will be TV gold. We can’t wait to see how they’ll get on with the rest of the camp.

"We’re pretty sure they’ll irritate the hell out of some of them."

‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ is expected to return to ITV1 in November.
