Nanny McPhee to appear in 'modern' movie

Emma Thompson has said the next ‘Nanny McPhee’ movie will be set in modern times.

The British actress – who has starred as the titular nanny in two installments of the movie – has revealed she is currently working on the third one, which will feature a different setting to the other two.

She revealed: “I’m writing the third one at the moment, which will be modern, so that’s very interesting because they’ll be dealing with communications and these machines and all of that.”

The 51-year-old star also admits she has come up with the opening line for the film, the follow-up to 2009’s ‘Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang’.

She told MoviesOnline: “I’ve got the beginning. I know that it’s going to be somebody saying “This is the story of me and my family.” That’s all you need.”

Emma also admits she has completed writing her version of ‘My Fair Lady’.

She revealed: “I’ve delivered it. It’s done. I’m just the writer so I said: ‘Here you go! Bye.’ ”
