Ice-T cleared of driving charges

Ice-T has been cleared of unlicensed driving charges stemming from a New York City arrest.

The entertainer, born Tracy Marrow, said last month when he was arrested that he had a valid New Jersey licence. Prosecutors said today the New York department of motor vehicles records wrongly reflected that his licence was suspended because of a lack of insurance.

His 2009 Cadillac is insured and registered in New Jersey.

Ice-T says he did not know about the glitch in New York records and “never broke the law”.

He plays Detective Fin Tutuola on the TV drama 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit'.
