Actor Michael Douglas is to undergo eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy for a tumour in his throat.

Douglas, 65, said he expected to make a full recovery and told People magazine he was "very optimistic".

The Oscar-winning 'Wall Street' star, who is married to British actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, appears this year in the sequel, 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps'.

Douglas was currently outside the US, publicist Allen Burry said. He refused to give his location or say where he would be treated.

Douglas and Zeta-Jones bought a house on Bermuda nearly a decade ago and Zeta-Jones said they planned to raise their two children there.
