Welch to start recording in October
Florence Welch is heading back to the studio in October.
The Florence and the Machine star has started listening to an âeclectic mixâ of different artists in preparation to start recording the follow-up LP to 2009âs critically-acclaimed debut âLungsâ.
She explained: âIâm definitely going to work with a couple of new people. Iâm hoping Iâll have some time off in September and then in October or November time Iâll start really concentrating on doing the full thing.
âI always listen to Tom Waits, Crystal Castles and this guy called Chad VanGaalen and then weird French new rave stuff. Itâs quite an eclectic mix and Iâm not sure how itâs going to come across in the new album. It kind of sinks in subliminally I think.â
The singer admitted she often finds her thoughts difficult to transfer to her songwriting, but she confirmed the second album will feature much less âblood and gutsâ than âLungsâ
She added to BBC 6 Music: âIâm quite easily distracted and my thoughts are hard to pin down, but itâs good in some ways. I think it was like lyrically weâre moving away from the blood and guts of the first album.
âThe first one was animal and anatomical and this one is chemical and elemental but my thought process changes so quickly from one song to the other so I can never say what the whole theme of the album is going to be.â
