Welch to start recording in October
Florence Welch is heading back to the studio in October.
The Florence and the Machine star has started listening to an āeclectic mixā of different artists in preparation to start recording the follow-up LP to 2009ās critically-acclaimed debut āLungsā.
She explained: āIām definitely going to work with a couple of new people. Iām hoping Iāll have some time off in September and then in October or November time Iāll start really concentrating on doing the full thing.
āI always listen to Tom Waits, Crystal Castles and this guy called Chad VanGaalen and then weird French new rave stuff. Itās quite an eclectic mix and Iām not sure how itās going to come across in the new album. It kind of sinks in subliminally I think.ā
The singer admitted she often finds her thoughts difficult to transfer to her songwriting, but she confirmed the second album will feature much less āblood and gutsā than āLungsā
She added to BBC 6 Music: āIām quite easily distracted and my thoughts are hard to pin down, but itās good in some ways. I think it was like lyrically weāre moving away from the blood and guts of the first album.
āThe first one was animal and anatomical and this one is chemical and elemental but my thought process changes so quickly from one song to the other so I can never say what the whole theme of the album is going to be.ā
