Kasabian rocker becomes a father

Kasabian rocker Serge Pizzorno has become a father at the start of the week.

The guitarist - whose father is Italian - and his partner Amy welcomed their son into the world on Monday and the couple have named the tot Ennio Silva Pizzorno.

The baby - who came four weeks early - weighed 6lb and Serge had only just arrived back in the UK after touring Australia with his band when Amy went into labour.

The 29-year-old musician is now set to hit the road again this Friday to tour Europe with U2.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Serge and Amy are thrilled. The timing couldn't have been better with all the gigs booked in over August."

After joining U2 on tour, Kasabian are to headline the V Festival - which takes place over the weekend of Saturday August 21 and Sunday August 22 - and Serge has previously admitted he can't wait for the gigs to come round.

He said: "It's a real milestone and an honour. Those two nights are going to be the shows of the year."
