Pixar deliver again!
The third outing for Woody (Hanks), Buzz (Allen) and the other toys – with several welcome new additions to the playroom like Ken (Keaton) and Lotso (Beatty) – is a triumph not only for animation but for storyline and strength of emotion.
Andy, owner of the toys, is growing up and heading for college. He has earmarked cowboy Woody as his comfort while Buzz and the others are consigned to the cardboard box … it’s all about moving on.
But when, by accident, the box is delivered to a day-care centre, where the resident toys aren’t all what they seem, Woody decides that friendship is everything and sets out on a rescue mission.
There is everything to commend in this excellent third outing that comes 11 years after the original, the message is about abandonment, friendship and teamwork and it all, magnificently, builds to a surprisingly emotional climax.
The question now is, of course: where can the series go from here?
