Queen star makes album with protégé

Queen guitarist Brian May has teamed up with stage star Kerry Ellis to release an album – eight years after talent-spotting her for his 'We Will Rock You' musical.

May plays on and produces the album for the singer, who has gone on to star in hit shows such as 'Wicked' on Broadway.

The pair will also appear at the BBC Proms In The Park in Hyde Park on September 11 and release their album, 'Anthems', two days later.

May first spotted Ellis when she understudied for Martine McCutcheon in 'My Fair Lady' and then signed her up for the 'Queen' musical.

“From the moment I first heard Kerry sing, I was entranced, and felt the conviction that I would one day make her album. The conviction never left me,” he said.

Ellis, who is currently starring as Nancy in 'Oliver!', performs rock anthems and show songs.
