Andre named celeb dad of year
“Inspirational” single father Peter Andre was crowned celebrity dad of the year today – beating British Prime Minister David Cameron in the public vote.
The 37-year-old heartthrob, who has children Junior and Princess with ex-wife Katie Price, was crowned the Bounty Celebrity Dad of the Year.
Accepting his award in London, the pop star and TV presenter declared fatherhood was his “most important role”.
The doting father, who also gained a stepson – Harvey – when he married Price, said: “This feels so good. It’s been a turnaround year for me and the kids and it’s an honour to be the subject of the public’s support and best wishes.
“This means a huge amount to me as being a dad is my most important role.”
More than 35,000 votes were cast in the poll, which also saw ousted premier Gordon Brown beat Mr Cameron.
Presenter Jeff Brazier, father to Jade Goody’s sons, came second, while Take That singer Gary Barlow was in third place.
Boyzone star Ronan Keating, who announced his separation from wife Yvonne last month, came eighth.
