'Death at a Funeral (2010)' noisy and witless

An unnecessary, and vastly inferior, remake of the 2007 British original slanted to an American audience who prefer dialogue screamed and wit – the sort of low-key, underplayed, thoughtful wit of the original – slammed home.

Not that this version delivers much wit, just noise and from Rock and Lawrence a couple of performances that give the distinct impression they wish they hadn’t signed up in the first place.

Rock plays hard-working family man Aaron who with his wife lives with his father. When pop dies Aaron has to organise the funeral and play host to famous writer brother Ryan, who reckons he should be the star of the show, and some of his father’s friends … who come with family secrets and mysteries to reveal.

It just doesn’t entertain on any level.
