Writer and first-time director Blakeson brings us a perfect kidnap thriller, a three-hander in which nothing is shown that is unnecessary or over-fussy … it is a simple story that starts with a terrific sequence and maintains the tension throughout.

Marson and Compson – the former the calculating brains behind the kidnap, the latter the nervous apprentice – plan to snatch Alice (Arterton) and hit her wealthy father for a couple of million … nothing more, nothing less need be known, other than things don’t always go as planned.

Blakeson took a mere four weeks to shoot this atmospheric and theatrical film and it’s a gem.
