Plans afoot for 'Ring 3-D'
A third instalment of 'The Ring' is to be made.
Paramount is planning on making a 3-D version of the horror movie, which is being titled 'Ring 3-D'.
David Loucka is being touted as the scriptwriter, with Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald negotiating a return as producers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The 2002 movie was a remake of the 1998 Japanese movie of the same name, and starred Australian actress Naomi Watts as a young journalist investigating the death of people one week after they come into contact with a mysterious video tape.
No cast or director has been confirmed for the movie - which is believed to feature a more teen-friendly storyline, reinventing the film for a younger audience.
Upon its release in 2002 'The Ring' grossed $249m (€186,000) worldwide and sparked a flurry of interest in horror movies from Japan - leading to the English production of 'The Grudge' with Sarah Michelle Gellar and 'Dark Water' starring Jennifer Connelly.
'Ring 3-D' currently has no production or expected release date.
